Looking for alpha testers for Snikkr for iPhone!

Posted in News by Snikkr Team on September 29, 2009

Snikkr for iPhone is coming together! We are looking for a few dozen alpha testers we can send a copy to, and get feedback from. We would like owners of a 3G or 3GS iPhone, who have experience with Snikkr-like products: maps and navigation, local search, friend tracking, etc.

This alpha will be distributed using Apple’s support for “ad-hoc” distribution. That means you would send us your iPhone’s UDID, then we send you a couple of app files to install onto your iPhone via iTunes. An application can only be distributed this way to a handful of devices, so we are only considering “serious applicants”. Users who have installed apps this way before are especially welcome.

You can comment on this post, or send an email to iphonetest[at]snikkr.com if you are interested.

Just a small change to Snikkr’s default map provider. A few other minor fixes as well.

Snikkr now works better on Vodaphone network

Posted in News by Snikkr Team on September 16, 2009

Some Snikkr Vodaphone users were getting errors when using the application. These errors may have been related to Vodaphone’s use of the Novarra transcoder. We have updated the Snikkr server software to try to prevent these errors. Any Snikkr Vodaphone users who were seeing lots of errors, please try the application again.

We welcome feedback here or at feedback[at]snikkr.com.

Snikkr Mobile updated to 1.0.090905

We have posted a minor update to Snikkr on our site. Next time your application launches, you should see a prompt to download the new version. (You will have to explicitly “Exit” Snikkr from its main menu and then launch it again to get this to happen).

The update has a few bug fixes, in particular, auto-complete (e.g., in the Advanced Directions and Show Address dialogs) now properly handles Contact List items with no names (just company names). Thanks to one of our wonderful users for pointing out that this wasn’t working any longer.
